Debs Week 2
The Debs had a great, fun week! We had our first campfire as a division, where the girls each came with a kind thing to share about someone else. Then they took turns sharing their words of encouragement, and then we ate s’mores and sang songs together. They are such a sweet and supportive bunch of girls!
We also played a game where the girls had to work together as a group of four in order to build a “human sandwich.” Each girl was an important piece. One was the eyes, one was the mouth, and the other two were the arms. It was a great activity to start building some teamwork as a division!(We need to bond so we can plan our super secret awesome Deb Carnival!)
On Tuesday, we had our very own tennis tournament with the Juniors. The girls had a great time getting to play real games of tennis against each other. And it was so cute to watch them “take care of” the little Juniors!
As part of the entire camp, the Debs also did several exciting activities. Early in the week we got to watch the Sub Senior’s production of Into the Woods. We also participated in Miss Romaca, an event where the girls dress up our OOBs and compete to see who will be crowned “Miss Romaca.” Our OOBs looked fantastic, complete with make-up and silly costumes. The girls had a great time, and one of our contestants even made it to the second round!
We also participated in Counselor Hunt, a huge game of hide-and-go-seek where the campers looked all over camp to find the counselors. There were some good hiding places this year, but none good enough to stop our girls!
Fourth of July was another big part of our week. We started off our day with Gold Rush, an activity where the girls had to move from place to place on camp completeing a different “obstacle” at each station, trying to collect as much “gold” as possible. It was a great event, with groups lead by Romrec in cheering and song. We also did an American Challenge that included things like a pie eating contest, a state naming game, the Declaration of Romacanism, and so much more! We ended our day with a cook out and fireworks at Berkshire Bob’s. The girls loved it.
The girls have been doing a great job in their activities, working hard and having a ton of fun! It was a great week, and we are expecting another great week to come. I can’t believe next week is Visiting Day and I look forward to meeting you all.
