Juniors Week 2
Hi Junior Families!
The Junior “nuggets” sure do make the world go ’round! How delicious these girls are-all decked out in their red spirit gear, running all around camp from activity to activity with such Junior swagger, giggling the day away, trading stickers during rest hour, and falling asleep before their little heads hit the pillow. You would be so proud of them if you could see how differently they feel now, compared to last week. Each day they grow more independent and more confident. They have even climbed the rock wall, jumped off the Wibit, waterskiied for the first time, and completed the ropes course. Those are amazing accomplishments and they are thrilled to share their stories with all of us…“Guess what I did today, Mary!!!”
We have had a very busy week-one filled with special events, July 4th, a trip out of camp, swim and track meets and more! They laughed the day away at our annual Miss Romaca pageant-a wacky event where they dress up the OOBS (male staff) in hilarious costumes for a contest. They played a game of Counselor Hunt and even enjoyed a little culture at Jacob’s Pillow where they saw an outdoor dance performance. July 4th was jam-packed with games and activities. They love to begin their day racing to be the first to “flagpole” so they can raise the flag (and they love to tell me daily that they already made their beds and cleaned their cubbies before flagpole-too cute). On July 4th, Daniel played a little game with the camp and attempted to raise the British Flag-so we had a bit of fun starting first thing in the morning. Then it was all RED, WHITE and BLUE for the rest of the day. We had an American themed rap battle and an American Challenge obstacle course at the waterfront. Then the girls painted their counselors (and themselves!) in patriotic designs and colors and then we all jumped in the lake for rec swim. Of course, no Romaca July 4th would be complete without our annual fireworks thrown by Berkshire Bob. It is a display I’m sure your girls will love to tell you about.
I am so thrilled to have your little ones this summer. They are soaking up the sun and all the spirit and fun Romaca has to offer. It is so hard to believe we are almost done with week 2 and that next week is Visiting Day! I truly look forward to meeting you all. Until then, have a wonderful weekend and take care.
Warmly, Mary
