Juniors Week 4

Juniors Week 4

Hi Junior Families!!!

So much has happened this past week here at Camp Romaca, and the Juniors are loving every minute of it! Last Thursday, DJ Jeff came to camp and turned the Rec Hall into a huge dance party! The Juniors had so much fun running around and dancing to their favorite songs, and they loved wearing their special shirts they decorated for the event. Even when it went long past their bedtime, they fought to stay up and dance with the rest of camp! They had such a great time.

The girls had such an amazing time seeing you all on Sunday! They loved spending time with you and showing you all the amazing things they’ve gotten to do here on camp. They also loved the gifts and candy they received and were eager to share them all with me! After your departure, we headed down to the waterfront for another rec swim and then played fun games as a division before settling down for bed. I hope you all had as great of a day as they did!

On Tuesday, the girls carried over their love of dancing from DJ Jeff into Cliff Brodeur and his square dancing! The girls looked so cute dressed in flannel and western wear, and they loved getting into partners and dancing around with their camp sisters. They had such a great time learning new dances and getting to do ones they already knew, such as the Cha Cha Slide and the YMCA.

Wednesday was a hugely exciting day for the girls, as it was Trip Day! Our trip was combined with the Inters, which was a great chance for the Juniors to bond more with these girls! We went to the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, where the girls saw all types of modern and contemporary art. They really enjoyed this new perspective on art, and had so much fun completing the museum scavenger hunt! After the museum, we went shopping at a local toy store and had a picnic at the Natural Bridge State Park and went exploring around the park! The girls loved getting to look at the natural bridge and hike around the park. Finally, we stopped and got ice cream before heading back to camp.

As exhausted as the girls were after this trip, their day wasn’t over yet! After dinner, the Juniors packed up their bags and hiked up to the nature center for a camp out! They put up their tents, built a fire, and made s’mores before settling down for the night in their tents. They all loved sleeping outside and had so much fun getting to know the hiking staff.

Thursday night, the girls enjoyed a night swim and sandcastle building competition at the waterfront! They loved getting to have the waterfront all to themselves, and had so much fun playing in the sand and splashing their counselors! It was such a great time for them.

This week, we’ve been lucky enough to see two divisional plays! Last Saturday, we saw Clubhouse 7 and the Greylock Sophomores put on Footloose, which was so well done and funny! This Saturday, we saw Romrec and Greylock perform The Addams Family! It was such a unique performance, the girls loved it!

This has been such a busy week for the Juniors, and as camp begins to reach the end, the girls are busy trying to make the most of the time they have left! They still have so much more fun ahead, with Birthday night and their own play approaching next week. I can’t wait to see all they do in the time they have left this summer!

Warmly, Mary
