Clubhouse 7 Week 6
Hello Clubhouse Parents!
It has certainly been a busy week so far! The girls got to see the Juniors and Inters in their production of Aladdin earlier this week, which was so adorable! Also, many of the girls were visited on Sunday by their grandparents, which was a fun way to spend the day, despite the rainy weather! The rain pushed back Apache Relay for a few days, but the girls were eager to participate when the special event arrived. After everyone participated in their own leg of the relay, we all headed to the waterfront to watch Romrec do their annual rope burning competition while Annex did the run for firewood. Clubhouse’s job during this part of the relay is to lead their teams in chants and cheers until the rope is burned through. I am so proud of each and every one of the girls for keeping the younger girls in camp busy and entertained for the entire time, even though it went on for almost two hours! They were so enthusiastic and proved themselves to be fantastic role models for the younger campers. After the event was over, they even stayed behind to help clean up after the younger girls.
As the end of the summer draws near, the girls are totally absorbed in Olympics, which broke out this past Tuesday night, following the Apache Relay. There were fireworks and a special Olympics reveal on the roof of Romrec! It was especially exciting for our Clubhouse ladies because this is the first year they could become lieutenants that help lead one of the teams. Although there were lots of tears as Olympics broke out, as it signals the beginning of the end of summer, all the girls were ecstatic for their friends who were named lieutenants of the four teams. Girls were tackled in giant bear hugs as they were congratulated!
The past three days have been packed with exciting Olympic events, including swimming and sailing competitions, skit performances, a track meet, tennis matches, gymnastics competitions, and even a water skiing competition. Today we are looking forward to landsports competitions, like basketball, volleyball, and soccer, as well as the small crafts competition. Last night the girls presented their songs and cheers and had the closing ceremonies!
There’s still so much more to come, even as the summer is coming to a close! We’re all looking forward to Secret Show, and Banquet this week.
Best,
Becky
