Debs Week 6
Hello Deb Families!
The week started off with Grandparents’ visiting day! It was a little bit wet, but the girls really loved having their grandparents visit. They got to show off some of their best gymnastic, yoga and dance skills. Then, that afternoon we had a movie day, and ended our evening with a campfire.
The Debs did some other exciting things as well. We went to the Jinter’s production of Aladdin, we had a slumber party night, participated in Apache Relay, and we went to Counselor Auction. At Counselor Auction, the girls used fake money to bid on counselors to do different activities. It was a great night that ended in something the girls had been looking forward to all summer… Olympics!
Olympics broke out on Tuesday night at the end of Counselor Auction. The entire camp headed down to the tennis courts, where Jeff, Daniel, Lauren and Debra passed a flame with tiki torches down the porch of Annex. While everyone’s attention was on Annex, fireworks broke out behind the camp causing everyone to turn around. As the fireworks died down, re, blue, white and spotlights began to swirl through the sky before focusing on the roof of Romrec. From the roof, the four Olympic flags were walked out and displayed. The girls were so amazed and excited! Once the teams were revealed, the girls moved over to Gymnastics to hear their captains and lieutenants and to be broken up into their teams.
The next three days were full of Olympic activities. The girls competed in tennis, soccer, swimming, basketball, track, water skiing and so much more! They also worked together to learn songs and skits and cheers. In the end, team Hungary was the winner. It was phenomenal to see what they had learned throughout the summer and so fun to see everything that they were able to accomplish together.
With Olympics behind us, we are heading into our last week of the summer. The girls are starting to get sad that there is so little time left, but they are also excited for the traditional closing events that line our last week. This coming week will be full of fun and excitement for the girls while making some final 2016 summer memories to carry through the year.
Sincerely,
Jenny
