Juniors Week 7
Hello Junior families, The last week of camp was a crazy and exciting week for all the Juniors! They had so much fun spending all those last moments with their friends and enjoying all the special events that happened here!
Sunday, we got to spend the whole day at the waterfront and enjoy the Sub-Senior division special event, Subsway! Themed Hawaii, the event featured a water slide, a dunk tank, and a lunch cooked by the division to fit the theme. The Juniors loved playing in the water all day, and they loved trying all the different food! That night, the Senior B’s put on their Secret Show! The theme was Annie, which the girls loved! Each division got a special section where the Senior B’s quoted funny things each girl says, and the Juniors loved hearing their names! Secret Show is always so funny and such a special experience for Romrec and all the Senior B’s, the Juniors loved watching it.
Monday, we had our last campfire. The Juniors loved donning all their red one last time, and singing all the songs they had worked so hard to learn. They also loved watching the older divisions talk about their trips and give a special gift to the camp. It was such a special moment to see all the campfires we have had over the summer build up into this one.
Tuesday, it was the counselors turn to put on an event! They performed their Counselor Show, themed to Hannah Montana! Each division’s counselors sang a special song to their division during the show, and the Juniors loved watching their counselors sing to them and reminisce about their summer. They loved watching all the staff they have come to know over the summer dance and sing on stage, it is truly such a great experience for the campers, and for the staff, who work so hard to put the show together!
Wednesday, we had Movie Day! The camp embarked for the Berkshire Mall where we enjoyed a little bit of shopping and watching The Secret Life of Pets! The Juniors loved getting to walk around the mall with their friends and watch a movie they had all been dying to see! They loved getting to sit with their friends and laugh through the movie. Then when we returned to camp, the girls all got dressed up and we headed to Banquet! Planned by Annex, Banquet celebrates the accomplishments of all the campers this summer and serves as a way to thank people who have given so much to camp. Themed Happily Ever After, the Juniors really got to see all the people who make Romaca a true fairy tale for them, and they got to celebrate each other as well as all of their friends.
Thursday, we closed the 2016 summer with a beautiful slideshow of all of the amazing moments we have shared this summer. The girls loved watching their summer unfold before them and got so excited to see themselves on the screen. After the slideshow, we all headed down to the waterfront for Wish Night. On Wish Night, all the girls walk down a line of staff and light their candles while hugging the staff that have given them so much this summer. It is a way for the staff to wish the campers a happy winter and a way for the camp to say goodbye to Romrec, who position themselves on the bridge as the campers cross over. Then, the campers push their candles, which are mounted on boards, onto the lake as they make a wish for the year. The lake looks so beautiful with all the candles, it is hard to describe. It is truly a beautiful way to end the summer and say goodbye.
It is so crazy to think that when you read this, your little ones will be back home with you. I am truly so honored to have known your children this summer, and I hope they all have amazing memories to keep them through the winter until they can return to their summer home. They all achieved such incredible things this summer, and I am so proud of every one of them. It was so great getting to know all of you, and I hope you all have a great year!
Warmly,
Mary
