** Debs, Week 5**
Hi Deb Parents,
I’m so happy to share another wonderful week with your girls!! It’s hard to believe we have been at camp for 5 weeks now. The biggest news of the week was the Debs performance in their show “Peter Pan”. They were truly incredible, and they worked hard to learn their lines, songs, and dances in just a few short days. They all did an amazing job singing, dancing, projecting their voices and memorizing all their lines. I was truly impressed with how well they worked together and helped each other, all while having so much fun! The Deb counselors and I proudly wore our “Debs Mommy” tie dye shirts with the words “faith, trust and pixie dust” on the back and cheered loudly for our girls!!
The Debs are also in their final stages of setting up Deb Carnival! The girls have been meeting and planning the event throughout the summer and this last week they spent time in Creative Arts every day making those plans come to life. The girls are getting ready to wake up the entire camp in the morning by banging pots and pans. Then they will sing the traditional Debs Carnival song through the dining hall in the morning while they do the bunny hop. After the song, the secret theme (sorry I still can’t tell you!), will finally be revealed to the rest of the camp. The girls will spend the morning setting up, and in the afternoon all Romaca will come and enjoy the carnival. The girls will take turns running stations, eating fun carnival food (popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy) and playing games. I am confident the event will be incredible, and I am very proud of what they have accomplished. This carnival was truly all created and executed by the girls, with supervision by me and the counselors.
This week the Debs also went to Camp Greylock to watch the Romrec girls and Greylock boys in their production of “Grease”. Monday night, the Senior A’s invited the entire camp to “Birthday Night” where the whole camp broke into seasons and celebrated everybody’s birthday with a 70’s disco theme!
We have an exciting week ahead of us and the girls are looking forward to Deb Carnival, Grandparents Visiting Day, Apache Relay, and Olympics!! This summer is flying by and I am loving every minute with your amazing girls!!
Have a great week!!!
Carly
