Debs, Week 7
Dear Deb Families,
I can’t believe I am sitting here looking out at camp and writing my last blog of the summer to you. These 7 weeks at our summer home have flown by and we have made so many amazing memories together!
Our last week as the Debs was chock full of traditional camp events! We had an amazing 3 days filled with Olympic activities, and girls running around camp sporting their green, white, blue and red spirit gear! They played hard and supported their teams and spent time with girls from all of the divisions at camp. Olympics culminated in our traditional song competition on Friday night. Each team wrote and performed a cheer, pep, and sweet song, and it was a very special and important night at camp. After the closing ceremony we all put our spirit gear away and came back to being one big family!
Post Olympics we had our last evening activity together as the Debs! We enjoyed a fabulous night swim in Lake Plunkett, complete with water balloons, noodles, the slide, and the Wibit! At the end of the night I surprised everyone and gave out refreshments (aka ice cream bars), everyone’s favorite part of Rec Swim!!
We had a fantastic day at the waterfront enjoying the “Netflix” themed Subsway event on Sunday! The girls loved playing on the giant inflatables and eating the food that the Subs prepared for the camp. It was a super sunny day and everyone (including me) was happy to spend the day at the Waterfront and in the lake! All of the girls also got to take a trip to Hinsdale Trading Company for their favorite flavor-burst ice cream ( ask your daughters about the “blue goo” ice cream)!
That evening we went to Secret Show, where the girls were blindfolded and led into the Rec Hall to watch a show performed by the Senior B divisions: Clubhouse 7, Annex and Romrec. The theme for Secret Show this year was Matilda, a favorite of many!! This week we also had our last campfire, where the girls were able to wear yellow for the very last time this summer and we all sang our favorite camp songs together!
We still have movie day, counselor show, banquet, slideshow and wish night to look forward to in our last few days together! I want to thank each of you for sharing your amazing daughters with me this summer! It has been such a pleasure to spend the summer with your girls! They have all grown so much and it has been amazing to watch them conquer fears, make friends, try new things, and just be silly together!!
I will miss them all for the 10 months we are apart and can’t wait for next summer!!
All the Best!!!
Carly
