Senior A’s, Week 6
Dear Senior A Families,
It’s hard to believe we are coming down to our final week at camp. These weeks are flying by and we have been so busy enjoying every minute together. The girls enjoyed the Jinters production of, “Wicked.” They had such great stage presence and your girls cheered and supported their adorably cute and talented camp sisters.
To start off the sunny and beautiful weekend, the camp enjoyed an amazing Deb Carnival. The Debs woke up the camp with the LOUD banging of pots and pans. I believe they may have woken up all of the Berkshires with their banging! :) The Debs theme was just like a movie scene, in fact the theme was Hollywood! The girls didn’t miss a beat, as they dressed up like movie stars and strutted down the red carpet. Prizes and fun filled the day and all of their hard work paid off!
Sunday was an absolutely picture perfect day and the girls were so happy to welcome their grandparents to their summer home. They made them homemade signs and ran into their arms to greet them. I’m sure you have already heard how wonderful the day was but I want to reiterate that your young ladies were great hostesses and there was so much love in the air. As we kissed the grandparents good-bye, there was plenty of excitement as we started to get ready for an all camp Apache Relay. The Apache Relay is a relay race where the entire camp is divided into two teams. We start the race with our youngest division and each division competes in a variety of races which eventually leads us down to the waterfront. The Romrec division is racing to build a fire to burn the rope. Annex is running fearlessly to help them gather wood, leaves, etc. to build the fire. The rest of the camp is singing and cheering on their teams. Once the rope burns, the Romrec division runs into the water and chants a song. It is an emotional time for the division, and for all of us watching, knowing that Romrec’s time here as a camper is soon coming to an end. After Romrecs’ beautiful moment of togetherness, Annex cooled off and jumped in as one division for a well deserved dip in the water. We ended the night with a green and white HIGH ENERGY campfire. I am confident you heard the singing in your homes Sunday night.
There has been a lot of buzz and excitement in the air. The girls were on pins and needles and looking for clues everywhere because they knew Olympics was around the corner. There were a few fun fake outs which kept everyone on their toes. Finally, at the end of evening activity on Tuesday night, the real Olympics break out happened. The camp ran frantically to the lagoon field where the Olympics break out took place. The girls moved over to Gymnastics to hear who the Captains and Lieutenants were for each team, along with which team they were each on.
The girls have a lot to look forward over the next few days during Olympics. They have been competing in tennis, soccer, gymnastics, fitness, swimming, basketball and so much more. They will be working together to learn songs, skits and cheers which will be performed Friday night.
There is still so much excitement left and still so many memories to be made. We have all of our traditional closing events that are planned for our last week of camp. I know that the girls, counselors and I will take every chance we can to make this last week fun, making more memories that will carry us through the next 10 months!
Have a Great Week!!!
