Dear Senior A Families,
It’s hard to believe four weeks have already passed here at Romaca. We have spent much of the week in Creative Arts working on our big project, Birthday Night! The girls have designed unique and beautiful scenery, a plaque that’s one of a kind, and name cards and menus for everyone here at camp. It has been a team effort that has brought the whole division together through their immense talents.
On Tuesday, we joined the rest of camp for square dancing in the Rec Hall with Cliff Broduer. The girls helped their camp sisters learn the moves and took super cute pictures in their western wear.
Wednesday, the Senior As left for their first overnight camp trip! Our wonderful bus driver, Larry, drove us to Lake George. On the bus ride, the girls taught each other the song they had written for Birthday Night! We had a wonderful time shopping and exploring the town. The girls bought matching sweatshirts, an adorable camp gift, and cute souvenirs for their camp sisters. We had a picnic lunch together of pizza and tacos in the park by the lake. Then, we walked over to the Lake George Steamboat Company and took a paddlewheel cruise on the Minnie Ha Ha. Everyone enjoyed the views of Lake George, as well as popcorn and Shirley Temples on board.
The hotel we stayed in was absolutely beautiful, with a jazzy old time feel and super comfy queen beds for all the girls. We dropped off our things and headed out to dinner and ice cream at Martha’s Dandee Creme. Everyone enjoyed a hearty meal at the grill and a delicious soft serve ice cream or Hawaiian ice. After, we went to the mall for shopping and a movie. The most popular store there was Target, where the girls enjoyed shopping for snacks, clothes, and jewelry.
Thursday, we woke up in comfy beds and started the day with a private continental breakfast. Then, Larry drove us to Saratoga for a beautiful day of brunch and boutique shopping. We enjoyed bagels at Uncommon Grounds and stopped by Starbucks. The girls loved trying on dresses and hats at all the adorable little shops in Saratoga. That afternoon, we went to Brown’s Beach for some sun and swimming. The girls played in the lake, tanned on the sand, and enjoyed snacks at the concession stand. It was amazing to see how the girls’ friendships had grown over two days of travel together. We had hibachi for dinner and enjoyed the show! The girls were full and happy by the time we arrived at camp, and went to bed after swapping stories with their bunks.
With Birthday Night just around the corner, the girls are back to work in Creative Arts, making costumes, centerpieces, and finalizing their skit. They are so excited to show their hard work off to the camp on Monday!
Warm Regards, Amanda
