Sub-Seniors Week 6

Dear Sub Families,

I cannot believe we are at the end of another week! This summer has flown by and it has truly been such an incredible experience getting to know your girls and watch them grow over the summer. I cannot believe it’s almost the end of our time here.

This week, we had Olympics break out on Tuesday! The breakout was a thrilling encounter consisting of some amazing acting by Advisory and Wellness staff, involving an emergency services responder, and of course, some Olympics music, flags, and torches.

Captains and Lieutenants were announced, as well as teams, and the girls were absolutely thrilled to be teamed up with friends and siblings, as well as seeing if their favorite Romrecer was going to be their captain. Our teams this year are USA (white), Kenya (green), Iceland (blue), and Panama (red). The girls have been decked out in their colors for the past three days and there has not been a dull moment on camp since Tuesday night.

On Wednesday, the Subs participated in sailing, rock climbing, softball, and fitness. They did amazing and really made their teams proud! After lunch, we then had a camp-wide Olympic track meet consisting of yard dashes, chair races, softball throws, sack races, a shuttle relay, and, of course, a super fun obstacle course. The four Olympic teams are doing a great job this year and the competition is strong, but the girls aren’t letting that get in the way of cheering for their friends no matter what team they’re on. It’s really amazing to see that in girls this age!

On Thursday, we had gymnastics where some of the Subs competed on the vault, and tennis where the girls had some doubles team matches. We had a silent lunch as well, where the girls couldn’t talk the whole time unless they wanted to be responsible for some points being taken away from their teams! Surprisingly, the Subs did a really good job staying quiet. In the afternoon, we had our landsports meet and the girls crushed it.

Friday was our last day of Olympics and the girls competed in waterfront activities and events all day. It was a beautiful day! We then had our Songs and Booklets presentation from each of the four teams.

The girls had an amazing time once again this year and I’m sure they are already on the edge of their seats for next year’s! I can’t believe the end of camp is in sight. I have had an amazing summer with your girls!

Have a great week, Jess
