Well hello again my lovely romrec families,
What can I say? Every week at camp is blowing me away. It’s never a dull week at camp ROMACA. We had the best time on our trip to Cape Cod even though it was a lot more wet the first few days than we would have liked. We started with a VERY early 6:30am wake up call. Let’s say the girls are not fond of the early morning wake up calls. We started at the Plymouth Plantation where the girls learned about life back in 1620. We then enjoyed a lovely sunny warm walk through houses and villages which gave the girls a real feel for how life was many years ago. Everyone was extremely tired from the early morning and travels so we had an early chill dinner at Chipotle and enjoyed going to the movie theater to see Little Mermaid.
Day 2: We explored the quirky colorful streets of Provincetown. The girls walked around the streets in their walking groups discovering the little cute shops and also shopping for their new crab friends, who I’m sure you will all meet very very soon. The girls enjoyed eating the local fresh foods that this postcard town had to offer. We left Provincetown as it started to become very wet. On our way back to the hotel we stopped at a lovely Italian restaurant where the girls all enjoyed some well deserved food and birthday cake for Rose and Emma. Once we had dinner we enjoyed a lovely walk down main street where we enjoyed some ice cream. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel where the girls started practicing their DJ JEFF dance. Let’s say the hotel employees enjoyed some entertainment.
Day 3: We had another 6:30 wake up! Bright and early then headed for breakfast . We arrived at south street dock and took the stream train across to Nantucket which took us about 2.5 hours. We all enjoyed the views and relaxing and reading books ( romrec fav activity ). Once we arrived at Nantucket we split up into our walking groups and enjoyed the day exploring the cobblestone streets of Nantucket. I have honestly never seen a more adorable island EVER! The weather was very hot and sunny which was very welcomed by all. We visited the famous ice cream shop and also enjoyed the beach. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset boat ride back to Cape Cod. Once we got off the boat it was very late so we headed right back to the hotel where we settled down for bed.
Day 4: We all decided we NEEDED a lie in, all the girls were so tired from all the busyness and early morning wake ups. We took our time getting ready and checking out of the hotel, we went and had breakfast together. We then traveled back towards camp and stopped along the way for lunch and a little shopping and relaxing in the sunshine for a while. We all had the best time in Cape Cod but we’re also so happy to be back home in our camp life bubble. Once we got home normal life had begun again with singing in the dining hall. That night the girls had their final DJ JEFF dance rehearsal!
Thursday: A full day of normal activities. A few of the girls went to Greylock to compete in the swim meet. I drove up to watch the girls for a little and they were honestly AMAZING. We came 2nd place (yay), a few other girls were at ROMACA competing in the tennis tournament and they were pros playing against the other camps. As you can imagine shower prep was extreme in the bunk today for the Greylock boys coming to ROMACA for DJ JEFF. The girls had the best night, their dance was out of this world and I even shed a few tears. It was so emotional for me seeing them dance the Romrec dance after all these years together.
Another very busy week at ROMACA! I hope you all had as much fun this week as we did! Visiting day is just around the corner and the girls can’t wait to see you all. I hope you all safe travels and I’ll see you all very soon
