Hello, Parents!
I hope you had an amazing week. We did, here at camp!
We kicked off our weekend with a fun day of activities in the sun and beautiful weather for rec swim! The girls got to watch the first performance of the season, High School Musical: 2, put on by the Sub Seniors and it was great! I think it got them all very excited for their performance next week. I’m sure you’ve heard, but we’re doing Shrek: The Musical! I think they’re getting more and more excited about performing it for everyone the closer we get!
On Sunday, we had a nice late wake up followed by one of camp’s favorite activities – Lip Sync Battle!! All of their dances were so amazing and they had a blast performing for our division and then camp as a whole. We didn’t win the championship this year, but I’m holding out hope for next year! We’ll start choreographing now! Monday was a little more chilled out for the girls. We had our first rehearsal at Greylock with their campers, which really got the girls excited for the process of putting this show all together! Unfortunately, our firework show got rained out so we didn’t get to attend the legendary Berkshire Bob’s, but the girls didn’t let it get them down!
Tuesday we celebrated the Fourth of July Romaca-style and began with an American-themed Rap Battle. Each bunk picked a word out of a hat that has to do with America (think”freedom” or “eagle”) and then quickly created a rap to the melody of a popular song, making sure to use their word in the rap. They get more and more creative every year! We finished up the day with a new all-camp evening activity called “American Challenge” where the girls were broken up into groups and participated in various challenges, all with an American twist to it. They really enjoyed it!
On Wednesday, we worked a little more on our scripts for Shrek and participated in Staff Swap as evening activity! The girls placed bids on counselors and activities with the ‘money’ they were given. Thursday we had another rehearsal at Greylock and some of the Senior A’s got to see their brothers at Taconic for a nice brother/sister lunch! We finished the day with a game of kickball, which the girls did a great job and their efforts to instill great sportsmanship were amazing to see! I love when you get those chances to really see the division come together to have fun and support each other, even through some friendly competition.
Friday was another busy day for us! We headed over to Greylock for rehearsal in the afternoon and stayed for dinner because we had a socialllll!! The girls were ecstatic to have their first social of the year and looked great, all dolled up. I’m sure you’ll hear all about it in the days to come!
I’ll let you all know next week how the girls did in their performances (spoiler alert: I know they’re going to do fantastic anyways)! Until then, have a beautiful week and enjoy the summer sun!
Love, Jess
