Hello Sub-Senior Families,
As I’m sitting here writing this week’s blog, the sun is shining and it is HOT outside! We have been so lucky to have so many consecutive beautiful days in the Berkshires this past week. At the moment, your daughters are either at small crafts or playing volleyball, and they are having a blast and finally enjoying ALL the (outdoor) facilities here at Romaca :)
Week 5 has been great and camp is really in full swing. At this point, the girls have been to most activities around camp, participated in many special events, and have made friends throughout all of the divisions. What’s happening at camp this summer is really special, and I know core memories (as the Senior A’s made paramount during their Inside Out themed Birthday Night) are being made.
Now let’s get into this week’s highlights …
To start off strong, the Senior A’s put on an incredible Birthday Night for all of camp to enjoy! Between a “core memory” decorated dining hall, a curated menu, and four big cakes for four seasons, all of Romaca was able to properly celebrate their birthdays – in an Inside Out way – and experience the magic of a Romacan Birthday!
The middle of the week consisted of a trip to Greylock to see the Annex play! On the bus rides taken there to Greylock and back, the Subs sang songs like, “OUR NAME IS SUBS WE’RE NUMBER ONE” and “100 AND 4 POUNDS OF BOAR…” Whether in or out of camp, you can count on the Romaca girls to sing songs proudly, loudly, and with big smiles on their faces :)
To keep the fun going, the rest of the week consisted of some serious Subsway prep in creative arts (the girls are making SO much progress), surprise sneakouts given by Romrec and counselors, a second social here at Romaca, and the mastery of new skills in multiple activity areas. From trying water skiing for the first time, to “getting” a back hip circle on (gymnastics) bars, and learning campfire songs from older alumni, the Subs have accomplished so much and I feel like a proud mom watching from the sidelines :)
As we head into the next week, time is going to move fast. Olympics is around the corner, Romaca Relay is in just a few days, and the final touches will be put to Subsway. The schedule is packed, and tons of fun is expected to be had. For now, we are savoring the time here by saying YES to trying those things we have wanted to do all summer and making a point to jump in Plunkett in (most) every rec swim!
That’s all for now…an all camp game of “Bring Me” is about to begin! Tune in next week for more :)
Xoxo, Hannah
