Inters Week 1

Hello Inter Families!

What a busy and exciting week we have all had here at Camp Romaca! Arrival day was as crazy as ever. As soon as the girls stepped off the bus the nerves disappeared and were replaced with smiles. The camp was filled with girls and counselors alike running around greeting everyone with a massive smile covering their faces!

As always time here at Romaca has flown by and I cannot believe a week has passed by already. We started off the week with Wish Night, a night where we all get together at campfire, dressed head to toe in our divisional colors and light candles together. We then make a wish as we blow the candles out to set our intentions for the summer.

On Saturday we had a special opening day schedule planned where campers got to try out a range of different activities. In the evening we then gathered at gymnastics for our second all camp activity - “get to know your counselor”. Each department’s counselors created a performance to introduce themselves to all the campers - group heads included! The campers all had a great time laughing at us all. The next evening the tables turned and it was time for “get to know your camper”. Each bunk created a skit, dance or song and performed it in front of the camp. It was so great to see how confident all the girls were and how they came together as a team to create truly amazing performances.

On Sunday we also played a Camp Romaca long-time favorite game - Predator! All the girls were split into groups so that they resembled a food chain. The groups ranged from mosquitoes all the way up to hawks. They ran around camp collecting bracelets from different “feeding stations” while trying to avoid/catch other teams. It was one giant game of tag with everyone dressed in black/camo!

We then started our regular schedule on Monday. The girls have been taking part in all sorts of activities ranging from waterskiing to creative arts to soccer. Luckily for us, the weather has been lovely and sunny for most days this week which has meant the girls have thoroughly enjoyed rec swim and most definitely the ice cream that they get afterwards, during refreshments! Starting our regular schedule has also meant the start of divisional evening activities. This week we have played lots of team bonding games, created a group poster, had an exciting game of kickball and teamed up with the juniors to create some hilarious commercials.

I am so excited for what the summer has in store for the inters this year and to see the girls make lots of special memories. Check back in next week to find out more about what fun the girls have gotten up to.

Lots of love,

Izzy
