Juniors Week 4

Hi Junior Families,

We’re over half way now! With only three weeks left of camp, we are already wishing we had more time with your girls. Week four has been jam packed with activities and excitement, with so much more to come!

We got to experience one of our favorite traditions this week - Twin Night! Twin Night is where our campers join with their camp sisters to design and create costumes that reflect a fun, matching theme. The campers were full of joy and pride as they stood side by side with their camp sisters, to introduce themselves on stage before a crowd of adoring Romacans. Think of your junior dressed as a pea and their camp sister dressed as a pod, and together they make two peas in a pod. It’s a very sweet event for the camp sisters to share together, and a very entertaining time all around.

This week the juniors also competed in our fun Miss Romrecer event. This unique all camp activity blends the spirit of pageantry with humor and fun, as each bunk devises a skit that showcases their collective creativity and wit. Think Miss Universe, but make it Romacan! Each junior bunk is assigned a camper from the Romrec division, who works closely with them to brainstorm ideas, write scripts, and design costumes. The costumes often become a focal point of the skits, adding to the comedic effect and overall entertainment value. The time the juniors get to spend with their Romrecer is priceless. They all shared so much excitement to get on stage and show the rest of the camp their masterpieces.

Our recent Trip Day was an absolute blast, with the juniors and inters groups coming together for a day of adventure at Liberty Ridge Farm. We kicked off the day with a lively bus ride filled with singing and laughter. Upon arriving at the farm, we enjoyed a tasty lunch before diving into a whirlwind of activities. The campers had a great time bouncing on jumbo jumping pillows, meeting adorable farm animals, and sliding through underground tunnels. They raced on pedal karts, swung high on circular swings, navigated through corn mazes, and picked fresh blueberries. We are so proud of the girls for their positivity and enthusiasm throughout their day. They enjoyed themselves, included others and created memories together. We finished the day at the farm with a trip to the gift shop where the girls refilled their candy stock piles and purchased sweet souvenirs to remember the day by. After a day packed with adventure, we made a very anticipated stop at Topsy’s Treats for ice cream before heading back to camp.

We then spent a wonderful night together at our nature center sharing stories with the division around the campfire. We reminisced about our Trip Day, sang songs, laughed and danced. We ate S’mores, which the girls were so excited to show me how to make, and are now a new favorite of mine. We are all prepped and ready for next week where we will camp overnight on the campgrounds. The girls are very excited and we are busy planning fun activities and campfire games.

Another super fun all camp activity we had this week was Staff Swap - one big auction where our staff members offer up a variety of fun experiences and prizes, and the campers use Romacan dollars to outbid other bunks and win them. Some of the exciting prizes on offer included sneak outs, lunch on the boat,´candy salads´and movie nights. We had some very invested juniors who walked away with some really fun experiences to enjoy this summer.

After all the excitement of week four, the juniors joined with the inters and subs divisions to enjoy a magical spa night dedicated to self-care and relaxation. It was like one big sleepover club where the girls got a chance to pamper themselves and their friends with makeup, hair braiding, face masks and nail painting.

The most exciting and special day of all, was obviously Visiting Day. As staff it was such an honor to be a part of the day. To see your girls run and jump into your arms, proudly show you around their summer homes and meet their new friends, was so very heartwarming. We want to extend our deepest thanks to each of you for making Visiting Day such a memorable and joyful occasion. Your presence truly made the day special for our campers and staff. I hope that having the opportunity to connect with your child’s camp experience and see their camp world through their eyes has brought you comfort.

As we head into the final stretch of camp, we’re looking forward to even more thrilling activities and cherished moments. The upcoming weeks will feature special events and opportunities for our campers to showcase their talents and achievements. We understand that the end of camp can bring mixed emotions, and while we’re excited for the adventures ahead, we’re also feeling the bittersweet reality of saying goodbye. The connections and friendships formed here at Camp Romaca are truly extraordinary, and we know your children are making memories that will last a lifetime.

Warmest,

Amber xo
