Hi Junior Families,
I’m so excited to fill you in on the week that was! We have had such a busy week of fun activities and making memories with your girls.
The excitement in the air is strong at the moment as we prepare for our upcoming show alongside the inters. This week your campers had auditions for The Lion King, which they were all absolute stars at. It was incredible to see each girl bring her unique flair to the stage as she stepped into character. Roles were announced later that day, which was a deeply emotional and magical moment for everyone involved. The girls’ reactions were a beautiful mix of surprise, joy, and pride. Seeing their faces light up with excitement as they were called for their roles was a stand out camp memory for me. The supportive atmosphere was heartwarming, with the entire group celebrating their peers. Picture a group of 50 girls jumping up and down, cheering loudly and wrapping each other in hugs and support. Since the announcement, our front and backstage crews have been super busy at rehearsals learning their lines and dances, and preparing the stage, costumes and props. It has been incredible to watch the girls’ growth and commitment as they prepare to bring the magic of the Lion King to Romaca.
We were lucky to enjoy Birthday Night this week. Our senior A’s hosted a night full of fun, laughter, and surprises as we came together to celebrate the birthdays of everyone on camp as one big happy Romacan family. Dressed in vibrant, season-themed spirit wear, our campers and staff joined others from the same birth season to embark on a journey around camp, diving into a variety of fun activity stations. The evening continued with a special cookout featuring a menu based on this year’s theme - Monsters Inc. And, of course, there was plenty of cake to go around! It was a super fun event and a great opportunity for the juniors to connect, make new friends, and strengthen their camp community.
We are all still feeling the excitement of Deb’s Carnival. Each year the debs division hosts a much anticipated carnival on campgrounds to bring everyone together for some fun. We were treated to ‘Under the Sea’ themed food, games and activities. It was a beautiful day where your girls, and us ‘big kids’ got to enjoy face painting, slip and slide, dunk tank, snow cones, haunted house, cookie decorating, carnival prizes and so much more. You may even hear from your campers about the very popular marriage booth. Throughout the week, the campers and staff have been coming up with elaborate proposals to their friends that have been keeping us all entertained. Debs Carnival is where love is in the air, and they are finally able to make it official - yet another fun tradition that makes a Romaca summer so memorable.
This week the juniors were able to spend some one on one time with the Romrec campers at makeover night! Each junior was paired up with a Romrec-er to swap makeup artistry skills and create some very fun looks to showcase. The evening was a highlight for the girls, full of laughter and genuine bonding. It was so heartwarming to see everyone enjoy this special time together.
As a special treat, we took a trip to the circus this week. Our adventure began with a fun bus ride into Lennox, where we were greeted by the colorful, vibrant atmosphere of the circus. The show was nothing short of spectacular, featuring an array of thrilling acts including juggling, balancing acts, and breathtaking aerial performances. The girls had a fantastic time! A memorable moment was when one of our juniors was invited onto the stage to assist with an act. The entire camp audience erupted into cheers, showing their support and love for their fellow camper. It was a heartwarming display of the strong sense of community and camaraderie the campers share.
The fun didn’t stop there! After our circus adventure, we shifted gears and prepared for a night of boot scootin’ excitement at our annual Cliff Broduer event. Our Rec Hall was transformed into a lively square dancing venue where the entire camp came together to enjoy some classic dance moves dressed in their finest flannels. It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to let loose and have fun together on the dance floor.
Our juniors who participate in horse riding and stable care throughout the summer were treated to an incredible horse show during the week. It was such a special time for the girls to showcase their love for the horses that they’ve grown so close to, and the skills they have been growing over the summer. In addition to the horse show, we also had an exciting gymnastics invitational at Romaca this week, where teams from various camps came together to compete. We are absolutely thrilled to share that our very own Romaca Green team emerged victorious, taking home first place! Their hard work, practice, and team spirit truly shone through, and we couldn’t be prouder of their outstanding performance. Seeing your campers flourish in their chosen activities and beam with pride when they do, is such a special moment for us all. They participate with such joy and enthusiasm and support each other at every opportunity.
Once again, thank you all for giving us the gift of spending the summer with your girls. They are the reason why we cherish these experiences so much. Here’s to the last two weeks full of memories and friendship!
