Romrec Week 2

Hello Romrec 2024 families,

I can’t believe the second week of camp is already done! I have had such a blast with your girls these past two weeks.

On Saturday, Romrec had another fun day of activities leading us into the long awaited all-camp Lip Sync Battle on Sunday. If you haven’t heard of it already, Lip Sync Battle is where bunks prepare a song to sing along too and compete against each other in front of the camp. Our Romrec girls take this especially seriously every summer, and have an absolute blast doing it. Instead of splitting into smaller groups as per usual, Romrec decided to make a divisional dance singalong, getting everyone involved. They decided to perform “I’m Just Ken” mashed together with “Barbie Girl,” both songs from the Barbie movie. They dressed up in costumes and created a full dance routine. I loved watching the girls! Clips of their performance are on the Romaca Instagram page if you haven’t had a chance to see it.

Romrec really showed their spirit this week, dressing up for Taco Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, and for the Fourth of July! On Tuesday, they decked out in taco suits, tortilla chips costumes, pepper hats, and so many necklaces to celebrate a camp favorite meal. On Wednesday the girls encouraged the rest of the camp to dress up with them at lunch in crazy hair styles such as pigtails and funky hair clips!

At night, Romrec had a social at Greylock. They decided to all match and wear their favorite pajamas. Everyone was talking and dancing and the girls had a great time. When they got back, everyone got to watch a movie and eat pizza to celebrate Ella’s birthday!

Wednesday was a super busy day for Romrec. Some of our girls went to a soccer tournament at Wah-nee, while others competed in the swim meet here at Romaca. I got to watch Romrec lead the rest of the camp in cheers and some of our girls got ribbons! After those tournaments, we held Brother/Sister here at Romaca for Greylock siblings. Then Romrec went to Tanglewood to watch James Taylor in concert!

The girls woke up on Thursday and immediately got decked out in red, white, and blue for the 4th of July! They ran up to flagpole all together singing “Party in the U.S.A.,” encouraging the rest of the campers to join in too. After breakfast the girls began writing their rap battle, in which they created a song about Independence Day and how we celebrate it at Romaca. After, we had “Paint Your Counselor” where the girls covered each other and their counselors in red, white, and blue paint at the Waterfront!

Everyday it’s been so fun watching the girls cheer and sing in the dining hall and all around camp. They are starting to learn their cheer routine for a competition, and beginning to choreograph a dance they will all perform together at DJ Jeff. Also coming up is our Cape Cod trip, leaving Sunday! So many fun things to look forward to!

XOXO,

Liv
