Annex Week 6

Hi Annex families,

I am here to tell you all about a jam packed week that we endured.

Sunday began with a visit from the Grandparents and it was so nice getting to meet them all. I was also so proud of some of our girls who took on the role of a grandparent for younger campers who did not have any with them on the day. After a busy morning, the day got even busier with Romaca Relay. Our girls, teamed with Romrec, helped to collect branches and twigs from the woods in order to light a fire big enough to burn through a rope. The green team came out victorious but the girls had so much fun and we finished the activity jumping into the lake together in our clothes as a division (myself included).

The girls showered before dinner and then we went to watch the Jinters production of the Lion King during Free Play. The play was great and it was so nice to watch the older campers cheering on and supporting the younger campers on stage. Once the play ended, we remained in the Rec Hall for evening activity which was an All Camp Dance Showcase. Campers of all divisions performed on stage, as well as the OOBs and some counselors. The showcase concluded with an amazing performance by the PAWs staff which, alongside some of the OOBs, became the Olympic Breakout. We could not contain our excitement as we ran to gymnastics and sat together in one big circle. We cheered on Romrec as the captains were announced and waited patiently for our turn. It was a super emotional time for all of us as Liv, Mikaela, Jordan and Maya were called out as Annex Lieutenants and I could not be prouder of them and the whole division for the love and support they showed.

Monday- Wednesday the camp engaged in three days worth of events, earning points for their teams. Our lieutenants, alongside a Clubhouse Lieutenant and a captain from Romrec led their teams so well and every girl in the division assisted in the writing and teaching of songs. These days were definitely the highlight of this summer for me, watching the girls be so supportive to each other, as well as the younger campers on their teams. They worked so hard and most importantly, had so much fun. On Wednesday night it was announced that Zimbabwe was the winning country, with Maya Sloan as lieutenant.

After a busy few days, the 9:45am wake up was needed on Thursday. We returned to some regular activities with a campfire happening that evening. This is the campfire where we got the opportunity to wear the sweatshirts we bought in Boston and present the camp gift that had been picked. This was a nice day as the girls enjoyed relaxing after the previous few days.

Friday was spent in Creative Arts where we got the opportunity to catch up on Banquet preparation. With our center pieces and costumes arriving at camp, and our scenery looking good, it is making me very excited to see what next Wednesday has to hold.

Unfortunately this will be my last blog as next week we will all be back at home but I really hope you have all enjoyed my weekly updates.

Lots of love,

Caoimhe
