Inters Week 6

Hello Inter Families!

And just like that the final week has come around. I can’t believe how fast this summer has gone by. It’s been filled with such great moments that I hope the girls will carry with them for years to come. Now it’s time for me to tell you about what we got up to last week…

Our first big event of the week was on Saturday where our Inters first performed their version of the Lion King along with the Juniors. The performance was absolutely fantastic! It was great to see all of their hard work paying off, you really couldn’t tell that the girls only had a week to practice for this show. It shows just how dedicated and talented these girls are.

Then on Sunday, the day started off with Grandparents Visiting Day. It was lovely to see families reuniting once again. It was also great to witness the older and younger girls teaming up to create their own little families for those whose grandparents could not make it. We enjoyed different activities and of course a fantastic lunch before the grandparents got to watch the second performance of the Jinter’s show. You could feel the pride radiating through the room.

After the grandparents left we went straight into Romaca Relay. This is an event where the whole camp is split into either the green or the white team. The campers then race around camp completing different activities starting with the Juniors and finishing with Romrec completing the final activity of building a fire big enough that it burns through a rope. The rest of the camp were of course on hand singing chants and shouting encouragement to the Romrec girls on their team.

Just as we thought that Sunday couldn’t get any busier, we then moved onto the dance showcase! Campers and counselors alike performed incredible dances showing off their skills before the unexpected happened right there on stage… OLYMPICS BROKE OUT! The whole camp ran up to gymnastics where the captain and lieutenants were crowned before heading to flagpole to finish off the night with the Olympic opening ceremony.

Olympics day 1 brought us a variety of events from gymnastics and fitness to climbing wall events all the way to the track meet. On day 2 we stayed at the waterfront for most of the day competing in the swim meet, water skiing events and a small crafts race. We ended day 2 with a big Jinters game of kickball. On our final day of olympics the girls took part in the PAWs events in the morning and performed their skits in the afternoon. We finished off the day with everybody participating in the “sing” event. The girls sang their 3 songs: pep, sweet and cheer. It was a very emotional event with a couple of tears dotted around the room. Daniel then got up on stage to announce the winners - a big well done to the green team, Zimbabwe.

Now as we move into our final week, there are lots of mixed emotions going around the camp. We have had such a great summer full of achievements and laughter. It has been a privilege to watch the Inters grow over these last 6 weeks and we will all treasure every minute until departure day inevitably comes around.

All my love for the final time,

Izzy
