Hello Sub Families!
We are in our final week of camp, can you believe it?! Time has flown by here at Romaca, it feels like the busses were just pulling into the parking lot. In less than one week, those busses will be pulling out of the lot. We have been making sure to enjoy every moment at Romaca until that time comes.
This week on camp was the most exciting yet! We started off our week with Grandparents’ Visiting Day, where the campers were able to show off all of their favorite activities with their loved ones. The campers that didn’t have a grandparent for the day were paired with another camper and they traveled to activities together for the day. Once all of our grandparents left for the day, we went right into Romaca Relay! The girls had challenges all across camp to complete, racing Green and White to see who would finish first. WE’VE GOT SPIRIT YES WE DO, WE’VE GOT SPIRIT HOW ABOUT YOU?! We all came together at the end to watch Romrec burn the rope, a beautiful moment symbolizing their transition as campers into whatever the future holds for them.
That was not the only fun that Sunday brought however, as that night for Evening Activity, we hosted our first dance showcase. Seeing how talented all of our Romacan girls are was precious. At the end, OLYMPICS BROKE OUT. It was EPIC!!! Our very own PAWS staff helped with the whole thing, choreographing an amazing dance with light effects.
Olympics brought a new energy and sense of competitiveness to camp, with Indonesia, Luxembourg, Poland and Zimbabwe all battling for first place. The passion that the Romrec girls led the rest of camp with was inspiring and it is beautiful to see the influence they have on the younger campers. Soon enough before we know, that will be our girls leading everyone around. Once Olympics closed on Wednesday night, we found out our winner. Drumroll please…. GREEN TEAM!!!!!!! The roar in the rec hall could be heard all the way in Pittsfield.
Once Olympics closed out, we were back to normal activities here on camp. Friday brought our final Pizza Friday of the season, setting in that we’re at the end. It has been such an amazing summer. Seeing all of the Subs grow and mature has been a gift on its own. I am wishing them the best time entering middle school and counting down for our Summer ‘25.
Until then, with Love Always,
Ashley, Subs ‘24
